Convo with Dr. Joseph Ewoodzie (Harvard Bookstore, 2021)
A new book came out this year. Getting Something to Eat in Jackson: Race, Class, and Food in the American South. It's an important, well-researched, beautifully rendered story of everyday life in Jackson, Mississippi, with attention to questions of food access, availability, preparation, and preservation. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the boy's author, Joseph "Piko" Ewoodzie Jr., Associate Professor of Sociology and Vann Professor of Racial Justice at Davidson College. I was so excited to chop it up with Piko with the help of the good people at Harvard Bookstore.
